How do you build a feature-rich, complex product and yet make it user-friendly? The answer is to build it like a video game.

This is easier said than done, or course, as it means a LOT of extra work for designers and programmers. But if you can pull it off then you will have a service (application) that is engaging and easy to use for new members. At the same time, there is depth of features that more experienced gamers…er, I mean members…will discover and use.

If we’ve done our work right, then that’s a bit how you will find Kasidie! When you sign up, it’s easy to use: you can check mail, upload photos, make friends, play with Flash ‘Em and search parties, members and clubs. Fun and intuitive!

Now, as you get more experienced on the site, you’ll want shortcuts and more functionality. And we’ve built a lot of that in! Here are some tipsĀ and tricks for the experienced Kasidier (vs gamer)…
1. Shortcut to Edit Profile - when you log on and are in My Home, just click your profile photo
2. Close a photo you are looking at (when in someones photo album), just click anywhere in the black area above the photo
3. Scroll next/back when looking at photos; no need to click the arrows, just click anywhere on the left or right side of the photo
4. Organize your email - click to create (or rename) email folders, then move your email into the folder
5. Oops, recall an email; as long as the receiver hasn’t read it yet, you can recall the email by going into your Sent mail folder and clicking “Recall this Email” next to the message. It’ll be removed from their inbox
6. Rearrange Email Folders - click Edit, then simply drag & drop the folder into the order you want
7. Private notes on friends are easily managed by clicking “My Friends” and then adding your notes under each friend. You can edit and add to the notes as often as you want
8. Rearrange photos in a photo album - easy, just click on My Profile and the the photo album you want to reorganize. Now use the small green link to “Click to Arrange Photos” and drag & drop them in whatever order you want
9. Chose a new photo album cover photo - when you are in your album, under each photo you will see a “Click to edit or delete”. Click this under the photo that you want to be the album cover and check the box to designate it as such
10. Rearrange photo albums - if you are like us, you have a LOT of “Travel & Party” photo albums. To change their display order click the bottom link to “See all of my photo albums” and then on that page click the green link that says “Click to Arrange Photo Albums”, then drag and drop them into whatever position you want
11. Setting & Clearing Search Criteria - the system automatically remembers your most recent search settings (since most people search for the same, or only slightly changed, things again and again). If you want to clear the settings? Easy, just click the link at the top of the search page that says “Click here to clear all search selections”
12. Search for people who like (wine, camping, fetish, hobbies, etc) – just click the “Enhanced Search” button at the bottom of the Search Profiles page
13. Hide an album cover photo so people can’t see it – there’s no need, we built the system so uncertified members see a “Certification Req’d” graphic on the gold albums (instead of your cover photo), and so your private photo albums display a “Locked” graphic to anyone who doesn’t have a Backstage Pass from you!

Whew, okay, a bakersĀ dozen is enough for now. Have fun exploring Kasidie and discovering all the “hidden” tools and features we’ve added for you! Click here to log on to your account at Kasidie.com
