Sometimes The Grass Really is Greener

August 22, 2011

I’ve always hated that saying. My mom would use it quite frequently, as change absolutely terrified her (which must have been tough, as she was married to an entrepreneur).

But the simple fact of life, often learned too late by people, is that the grass really is greener on the other side of the fence. A new job can be fulfilling, a new city can be invigorating, and a divorce can be liberating. Sure, change entails risk, and sometimes the new thing is worse than the old, or even disastrous. As a whole, though, change almost always brings about new and wonderful things. It makes life exciting.

So the next time you want to make a change in your life, carefully weigh the options. And if the only thing holding you back is your mothers voice saying “the grass isn’t greener on the other side of the fence” then you know you should probably go for it!
